AWAK Joins Global Efforts for Sustainable Agriculture celebrates WORLD SOIL DAY 2023
The National Agroforestry Strategy Development Workshop convened to scrutinize the draft Agroforestry strategy, aimed to identify and address any gaps before finalization and subsequent implementation.
AWAK Mombasa Centre team, with enthusiasm and dedication, planted a substantial number of trees during the ceremony, the trees serving as a testament to AWAK’s dedication to contributing to a greener, cooler, and more sustainable planet.
In alignment with the National Tree Planting holiday, AWAK generously donated tree seedlings, which found their new homes in 5 schools, 3 churches,the chief’s camp and in the homes of 60 village elders and local farmers.

AWAK has teamed up with the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) to spearhead a transformative project in Kitui, Makueni, and Taita Taveta counties. This initiative, aptly named the ‘Accelerating Impacts of CGIAR Climate Research for Africa’ (AICCRA), is set to usher in a new era of climate-resilient farming practices, propelling local communities toward prosperity and sustainability.
Through a strategic collaboration with the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), the Association of Women in Agriculture Kenya (AWAK) is at the forefront of the Accelerating Impacts of CGIAR Climate Research for Africa (Aiccra) project, generously funded by the World. This endeavor is poised to initiate a paradigm shift towards climate-resilient farming practices, catalyzing prosperity and sustainability within local communities.
