Advocating for Women’s Empowerment: AWAK Participates in the Intergovernmental Consultative Framework for Gender Sector Working Group Stakeholders Meeting

AWAK took part in discussions held at the Intergovernmental Consultative Framework for Gender Sector in Kitui County. Under AWAK’s esteemed representation, the meeting witnessed the involvement of committees focusing on critical areas such as gender-based violence (GBV), peace and security, women in leadership, women’s socio-economic empowerment, and male engagement and inclusion

AWAK AND MOMBASA COUNTY ASSEMBLY COLLABORATE FOR THE EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN IN THE AGRICULTURAL VALUE CHAIN.

We had the honour of hosting the County Assembly Committe for Blue Economy, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries – Mombasa County Assembly; Led by their Chairman Hon. Mbelle in our offices earlier today. The team was on a familiarisation visit, to know more about AWAK and seek possible areas of collaboration.

A highlight of the visit was the esteemed presence of His Excellency Dr. Julius Malombe, the Governor of Kitui County. Dr. Malombe took the time to engage with AWAK representatives and gain firsthand insights into the Unpaid Care project’s accomplishments.

In a compelling address during the Agroecology: Ecosystem-Based Adaptation in Agriculture discussion at COP26, the Executive Chairlady of the Association of Women in Agriculture Kenya, highlighted the efforts AWAK is putting on to empower women smallholder farmers through climate resilient agricultural practices.
