In the heart of Kitui County, a profound initiative has taken root, marking a pivotal moment in the pursuit of sustainable agriculture and climate resilience. Under the banner of the Association of Women in Agriculture Kenya, our recent venture, the Land Restoration through Agroforestry and Soil Health Project, has yielded promising outcomes.

Amidst the anticipation of rain, the project has come to fruition, standing as a testament to our unwavering commitment to Climate Action and Climate Justice. Our focus remains steadfast on empowering small-scale rural women farmers, arming them with the knowledge and tools to combat the adverse impacts of climate change.

Having completed comprehensive Agroforestry and Soil Health training at KEFRI-Kitui, 130 farmers hailing from Kauwi, Kavisuni, Zombe, and Kitui Central wards of Kitui County embarked on a transformative journey. Armed with newfound insights, these resilient women received a total of 1300 tree seedlings, a tangible representation of our dedication to fostering sustainable practices.

The distribution of these tree seedlings marks a significant stride towards environmental conservation, as each farmer prepares to plant them on their respective farms during this rainy season. The acquired knowledge from the training will serve as a guiding light, ensuring that the trees flourish and contribute to the rejuvenation of the local ecosystem.
