At AWAK, we believe that vulnerable mothers living in urban informal settlements deserve a chance at a resilient recovery from the effects of climate change. That’s why we are excited to announce our new partnership with Krushan Foundation, a charity based in Texas, USA, providing a bottom-up approach to climate action solutions for communities and women who suffer unfairly from climate change effects.

Thanks to the generous support of Krushan Foundation, we are officially scaling up the Resilient Recovery Project (RRP) at Ziwa la Ng’ombe slums. Our ongoing RRP project is designed to enhance food security and nutrition, promote the adoption of clean energy, and encourage profitable agribusiness start-ups for women in urban slums.

Our team at AWAK is deeply honored to have Krushan Foundation as a partner in this important work. Their support will go a long way in advancing our mission to empower vulnerable mothers and promote sustainable development in urban informal settlements.

As part of this exciting partnership, we recently trained the first group of women in basic urban farming techniques. With these skills, these women will be able to grow pure organic vegetables at their households enough for consumption and for sale to enhance their economic growth. We are confident that this training will help these women build a better future for themselves and their families.

The Resilient Recovery Project is more important now than ever. As climate change continues to threaten vulnerable communities, we must do everything we can to support those who are most affected. We are proud to be working with Krushan Foundation to help vulnerable mothers build a more resilient future. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these women and their families, and create a more sustainable future for us all.
