Agriculture Sector Development Support Programme (ASDSP II) Inaugural Workshop for Umbrella Bodies

In an exciting stride towards revolutionizing agriculture in Machakos County, the Association of Women in Agriculture Kenya (AWAK) has become a member of the Agriculture Sector Development Support Programme (ASDSP II) Umbrella Bodies. This dynamic event, held at Machakos University, saw AWAK representatives actively participating in shaping the future of the agricultural sector.

ASDSP II, a pivotal initiative championed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Cooperatives in collaboration with all 47 counties, is dedicated to bolstering food security, promoting manufacturing, and enhancing nutrition. The workshop’s primary objective was to craft operational strategies for umbrella bodies, including Public Service Associations (PSAs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) operating in the Nairobi county agricultural sector. This aligns seamlessly with ASDSP II’s Outcome 4, which emphasizes fortifying structures and capacities for consultation, collaboration, cooperation, and coordination within the agriculture sector.

With fervent enthusiasm, AWAK envisions a tangible impact on food security and nutrition through these collaborative efforts. Day two of the workshop witnessed intensive discussions on delineating Terms of Reference (TORs) and a comprehensive Operational Work Plan, setting the stage for a transformative journey.
